CATEGORISING TITLE SEQUENCES
Narrative title sequence
Narrative titles are intergraded into the film opening
sequence and leads straight into the movie while establishing place or
character. Can be a long establishing shot or part of series shots. Example: ‘’SHINING’’
Discrete title sequence
The title does not clearly state the story line or setting.
However, it sets the tone, theme and gives hints of what can come up in the movie
and what to expect from it. It leaves everything in mystery and creates a feeling
of tension. Example: ‘’Girl with dragon tattoo’’.
Stylized title sequence
The type of sequence where text is integrated with graphics.
This involves lots of filters, motion, special effects and other digital
editing. Example: ‘’CASINO ROYALE’’
